America’s largest Christian retail store chain closes 240 stores
The Family Christian Stores chain is shutting down after 85 years in business.
They had more than 240 locations, including their stores in Pensacola and Mobile.
The CEO announced yesterday they are closing all their stores, nationwide.
Those stores employed 3,000 people and operated in 36 states.
The non-profit business never fully recovered after declaring bankruptcy two years ago.
They have not announced a timeline for the closures.
You can read his statement below:

In addition, we were not able to get the pricing and terms we needed from our vendors to successfully compete in the market. We have prayerfully looked at all possible options, trusting God’s plan for our organization, and the difficult decision to liquidate is our only recourse.”
