Not even the rain was able to put a damper on the star-studded Movieguide®’s Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala (www.movieguideawards.com), held on Friday, February 10th, at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

Also known as “The Christian Oscars,” the event that is always held close to the Academy Awards — this year the 89th on Sunday, February 26, 2017 — honors the best, most family-friendly movies and television programs honoring God and inspiring audiences with messages of faith, hope, goodness, justice, redemption, forgiveness, and true divine love.

As he does each year, Dr. Ted Baehr, renowned media expert and Chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission, and also publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Movieguide® , which reviews movies from a Christian perspective, presented his much-awaited highlights from Movieguide®’s Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry, a comprehensive financial analysis of the movie business showing what kinds of movies and what kinds of movie content moviegoers favor the most with their hard-earned money.

Pat Robertson honored

Veteran Christian broadcaster, Pat Robertson, 86, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for “Living and Communicating the Good News” to Pat Robertson for 57 years of “redemptive work in the mass media to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide and helping needy families and providing disaster relief through Operation Blessing.”

Olivia Newton-John steps in

GREASE star, Olivia Newton-John was a surprise guest when she stepped in at the last moment to sing with a couple of friends to perfom at the even, when Billy Gilman was stranded on the east coast because of snow and therefore couldn’t make it.
