The one simple thing you need to do to make life a success
I love those articles that are rolled out pretty regularly: where successful people are interviewed and queried about their early morning routines.
Somehow the first twenty minutes of your day determine whether you will be a success or not. Really? Here are some of the strategies I have read:
I oscillate between my shower being freezing cold and boiling hot to stimulate the senses.
I spend the first twenty minutes doing yoga.
I will not look at social media for the first twenty minutes, preferring to read self help material.
I stand in front of the mirror and have a list of affirmations I read to myself.
I start with a warm drink to get the blood flowing to my brain…
And the list goes on and on.
Of course I clearly believe in setting great habits and rituals for the start of your day. I am a fan of finding some early morning time to read the bible and pray, and I like to try and blog a couple of times a week as well. But whether I drink tea before coffee, I check my emails when I wake, or I like a piece of toast before I can think, there is really only one ritual we need to follow if we want to be a success. That is to find that time with God to let him speak into our lives.
His voice is a still, small one, and as such we need to seek him. He has much to say to us, but we have to go to him. So I don’t care whether standing on your head for twenty minutes works for you; just as long as you find that time to spend with God.
Your day is 24 hours long. You have hours in your day to roll out your strategy. But if you can just find that time with your Creator each morning to talk to him and ensure you’re on the right track, then that is the best strategy for life that anyone can ever give you.
No Anthony Robbins seminar can get you on the right track for your life like one word from God.
“Commit your ways to the Lord and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)
