He’s famous for his adventures in the wild. Now British star Bear Grylls has received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The British star and committed Christian is a former SAS serviceman, survival instructor and honorary lieutenant-colonel and outside his military career, an adventurer, writer, television presenter and businessman.

He is widely known for his television series Man vs. Wild, originally titled Born Survivor: Bear Grylls for the United Kingdom release. Grylls is also involved in a number of wilderness survival television series in the UK and US.

Taking to Instagram, he stated, “Thank you everyone so much for all the amazing messages! Feel blown away & very humbled. For me though, it’s a real team effort this one! We now have over half a million Scouts & volunteers in this country – a force for good – who all give up so much time & energy to help young people. This award is truly for all you volunteer heroes. You’re amazing! @worldscouting @scouts Now 50 million strong!”

Grylls is also an ambassador for Alpha, a publishing program that helps churches with evangelism.
