An American man has launched an online petition to have Twitter ban Donald Trump’s account.

Chris Monroe has launched a petition on change.org to have the account removed. At the time of this article being published, close to 28,000 people have signed the petition.

This comes off the back of the fact that Sen. Kamala Harris recently wrote Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey requesting that the social media platform suspend President Donald Trump’s account.

Monroe, who has launched the petition aimed directly at Twitter’s CEO, states that, “Donald J. Trump has abused his Twitter account in such a way as warrants cancellation or suspension.

“We are grateful that you have already banned neo-Nazi Richard Spencer, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Trump advisor Roger Stone, and others for violating Twitter rules, and ask that D.J. Trump not be allowed to continue violating those same rules with impunity.”

He went on to state that, “He routinely attacks the judiciary, senators, companies who don’t like his brand, and anybody that criticizes him, often using misinformation.”

It is reported that Trump told an advisor in 2017 (quoted in Bob Woodward’s Fear): “This is my megaphone. This is who I am. This is how I communicate. It’s the reason I got elected. It’s the reason that I’m successful.”

Neither President Trump or the White House has released a statement.
